The CS Approach

Conservation Synergies provides services that support governments, donors, NGO’s and other partners to look at problems and issues from new perspectives, and to learn from experts from other fields. We build systems that emphasise organisational and individual values, ethics and sense of purpose to deliver conservation impact over the long-term, and to help make the world a better place.

Our approach is simple and with a clear vision to provide unique approaches to complex socio-ecological problems within ethically sound organisations.

1.
Engage

On the ground research to understand the internal dynamics, risks and opportunities to frame the problem.
Conduct detailed interviews to deeply understand the problem and its drivers from those experiencing it, across various levels.

2.
Understand

Thematic analysis to describe the findings from a social-ecological perspective.
Package the results in simple understandable ways.

3.
Collaboration

A critical step involves ground truthing the results to see if the understanding makes sense and then, using those results, co-developing practical solutions.

4.
Define

Defining the ‘just cause’ for the organisation – a specific vision that provides direction, inspires sacrifice and to endure not just in the present but for lifetimes beyond

5.
Build

Provide support to build values-driven, stronger and more effective conservation organisations.
This often involves seeking expertise from other fields for tried and trusted approaches used in similar contexts
